Wadsley is a great church with an amazing history and legacy of worship and mission. It was founded in the 1830s by two sisters, Ann and Elizabeth Harrison, who wanted there to be an easily accessible church for local people.
An outward focus has always been part of the DNA of Wadsley church with Oughtibridge Parish Church and St Polycarps both being planted out by Wadsley.
In 2015, a team was sent out from a large Sheffield church to bring a new sense of vision and energy. The "new" and "old" Wadsleyans merged to make the family that is Wadsley Church today.
We have seen God do amazing things over the last few years as new people have discovered God's love for themselves and joined our family.
It's fair to describe Wadsley Church as an old church, on a new journey. In 2015 we had just one small group, and in 2016 we launched four more. We now have eleven different small groups meeting in the week where we help each other to get closer to Jesus and live the lives that he has called us to.
We strongly believe that Wadsley should be an outward focused church and, as such, we seek ways to bless our community and those in need and are always keen to support and work with local schools, organisations and other churches to bless and encourage each other. In 2021, we sent a graft team, led by Jamys Carter, down to St Polycarps Church to continue our vision of revitalisation of local churches. Recently, Will Gowers has started at Bradfield - the next step on our exciting journey!
